Choosing, ordering and installing your floor
What is the difference between hybrid and engineered timber flooring?
Engineered timber has a real timber top layer over a layered core. Hybrid flooring has a printed timber-look surface over a rigid core. Can I order flooring samples before buying?
Yes. Order samples to compare the colour, grain and finish in your own lighting. Samples are free; shipping charges may apply. Check the sample order details before checkout. Choose flooring samples.
Are flooring prices per square metre or per box?
Use the price per m² on the selected product to compare floors. Flooring is supplied in full boxes, so your order total depends on the box price and number of boxes. Check the product’s current price and box coverage before ordering; prices can change.
How much flooring should I order?
Measure the room area, then have your installer confirm the cutting allowance and round the order up to full boxes. The allowance depends on the layout and room shape; herringbone and chevron need careful set-out. Use the flooring calculator as a starting point.
What should my flooring budget include?
Allow for floorboards, cutting waste, preparation, installation, trims and delivery. Add adhesive, underlay or moisture protection only where specified for the selected flooring and installation system. Ask for an itemised quote so you can compare the complete project cost.
Where can I find delivery and collection information?
Our delivery information page explains the available arrangements. Confirm the cost and access requirements for your address before ordering. Ask our team about your postcode, stairs, unloading access or collection plans.
Can hybrid flooring be used in bathrooms or wet areas?
Do not assume that a water-resistant plank is approved for a bathroom, laundry or other wet area. Room suitability depends on the selected product’s installation guide and warranty. Water resistance does not make the installed floor a waterproofing system or protect it from flooding. Confirm approval before choosing a floor for a wet area.
Do I need extra underlay beneath hybrid flooring?
Do not add extra underlay beneath a product with an attached acoustic pad unless its installation guide expressly allows it. An unsuitable extra layer can affect the joints and warranty. For apartments, confirm the complete flooring system meets the building’s acoustic requirements before ordering.
Can engineered timber be floated or glued down?
The method depends on the product. The engineered oak herringbone and chevron ranges shown here require direct-adhesive installation. Is engineered timber flooring real wood?
Yes. Engineered timber has a genuine wood top layer over a layered core. The engineered hardwood and oak ranges in this collection have a 3mm timber veneer. Check individual product specifications for total thickness, board size and finish.
Can flooring be installed over existing tiles?
Sometimes, but the existing surface must meet the selected product’s requirements for stability, flatness, dryness and height. Tiles, grout joints, door clearances and moisture conditions need assessment before installation. Ask your installer to check the site against the product’s installation guide.
