Kitchen, bathroom and laundry

Splashback Tiles

Splashback tiles for kitchens, bathrooms and laundries. A splashback is a small area, so one box of tiles can change the whole room. To work out how much you need, multiply the width by the height in metres. Chroma tiles come in 2 sizes, 8 colours, and gloss or matt.

How many tiles for a splashback?

Multiply the length of the bench by the height of the splashback. A 3 m bench with a 0.6 m high splashback is 3 x 0.6 = 1.8 m². Add 10% for cuts and you get 1.98 m², so you need 2 boxes.

Take away big gaps like a window. Leave small gaps like power points in, because they still need cut tiles.

Herringbone splashbacks

The 52 x 160 mm subway tile can be laid in herringbone. The tiles meet in a zig-zag, which looks great behind a cooktop. Herringbone takes more cuts, so add 15% extra.

Picking a splashback colour

For a light, bright kitchen, try Pearl or Dune. For colour, try Celadon or Jade, or the deep red of Rosso. Black and Caramel look rich next to timber.

How many boxes do I need?

Measure the width and height of each wall in metres and multiply them. Add the walls together, then add 10% for cuts. Each box covers 1 m², so round up to whole boxes. The calculator on each tile page does this for you.

Can I get a sample tile?

Yes. A sample is one full-size tile for $7. Shipping is $9.95 flat, however many sample tiles you order. Add them from any tile page.

How many tiles are in a box?

Every box covers 1 m². A box of 52 x 160 mm tiles holds about 120 tiles. A box of 100 x 100 mm tiles holds 100 tiles.

Should I pick gloss or matt?

Gloss is shiny and bounces light around the room. Matt has a soft, low shine. Both come in the same 8 colours and 2 sizes, at the same price.

Why does each tile look a little different?

That is the zellige look. Each tile has small changes in colour and a soft, wavy face, and the range has 32 different faces. Mix tiles from different boxes as you go, so the colours spread evenly across the wall.

How much is delivery?
