Herringbone instantly creates a focal point. Entries, hallways, living rooms and open-plan spaces look more considered when the floor becomes the design feature, and the zigzag pattern adds a sense of occasion without any extra styling.
You get the sharp designer pattern of a parquetry floor on a hybrid surface that’s 100% water resistant, scratch resistant and easy to live with. No sanding, staining or special products, just regular vacuuming and mopping.
A 7.5mm SPC core with a 2mm underlay already attached gives a solid, stable feel, and the 9.5mm build rated AAAC 5 star (L’nT,w 41, FIIC 69) in independent acoustic testing. The range comes in 6 colours, from Snow Grey to Pacific Spotted Gum.
This hybrid floor combines a timber-look decor layer, rigid SPC core and attached underlay. Read the installation, maintenance and warranty documents to check that it suits your room and floor build-up.
The linked safety data sheet reports zero respirable silica dust content. Refer to the current SDS under Product Downloads for the product’s safety and handling information.
The 9.5mm herringbone range is built for good looks and durability. The SPC core is water-resistant, but spills should be wiped up promptly and standing water avoided. Its 0.5mm wear layer is scratch-resistant; follow the linked care instructions for daily cleaning and protection.

Herringbone is the classic parquetry pattern: short rectangular boards laid at right angles in a zigzag. Our 9.5mm herringbone hybrid gives you that look on a 7.5mm stone polymer composite (SPC) core with a 2mm underlay already attached and a 0.5mm wear layer, in 630 x 126mm click-lock boards that lay as a floating floor.
Select rooms that meet this product’s installation, moisture and warranty conditions. The warranty excludes installations subject to potential water immersion, including bathrooms and areas with floor drains. Its AAAC 5 star (L’nT,w 41, FIIC 69) result describes the tested assembly; apartment and townhouse use still depends on the building’s acoustic requirements and approval. Check these conditions before choosing flooring for a kitchen or laundry.
Herringbone boards meet at right angles for a broken zigzag. Chevron boards are cut at an angle so the points form a continuous V. Our herringbone vs chevron guide shows the difference. Prefer a calmer look? The same 6 colours come in 9.5mm hybrid planks, so you can mix both in one home.
Herringbone takes more planning than straight planks. Set out from a centre line, expect more cuts at the walls and follow the herringbone installation guide under Product Downloads above. Handy DIYers can do it with patience, or ask about our installation partner. The subfloor needs to be clean, dry and flat, so start with our subfloor prep guide and the herringbone hybrid flooring guide.
Every colour in the range has matching trims, so the edges look as good as the floor: scotia for skirting lines, stair nosing for steps, T-mouldings for doorways and L-mouldings where the floor meets sliding doors or hearths. Browse all flooring accessories.
Each box covers 1.43 m². Herringbone needs more cuts than straight planks, so add 15% to your room measurements, then use our flooring calculator or the measurement guide.
Sweep or vacuum, then damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner. No steam mops. The full routine is in our cleaning guide.

COMMON QUESTIONS [9.5MM HERRINGBONE]
Herringbone boards are rectangles laid at right angles, so the ends form a broken zigzag. Chevron boards have angled ends that meet in a continuous V. Both are classic parquetry patterns. See our herringbone vs chevron guide.
Herringbone is one of the best-known parquetry patterns. Parquetry is the general term for floors laid in a geometric pattern, and our 9.5mm herringbone gives you that look with click-lock hybrid boards instead of glued timber blocks. Read the herringbone hybrid flooring guide.
Often, yes. The 9.5mm build rated AAAC 5 star (L’nT,w 41, FIIC 69) in independent testing, which suits many strata buildings. Every building sets its own rules, so check your by-laws or send us your building’s requirements and we’ll help you check. The acoustic report is under Product Downloads above, and our apartment acoustics guide explains the ratings.
Yes, if you’re patient and handy. The boards click together as a floating floor, but herringbone needs a centre line, careful set-out and more cuts than straight planks. Follow the herringbone installation guide under Product Downloads above, read our herringbone guide, or ask about our installation partner.
Each box covers 1.43 m². Measure each room, add 15% for the extra cuts herringbone needs, then divide by 1.43 and round up. Our flooring calculator does the maths, and the measurement guide covers awkward rooms.
These boards already have a 2mm underlay attached. Do not add another underlay unless the product installation guide expressly permits the proposed system. Check any underlay or moisture-control layer against the guide, your subfloor and your building’s requirements before installation. Read our underlay guide for the questions to check.
The linked safety data sheet reports zero respirable silica dust content. Refer to the current SDS under Product Downloads for the product’s safety and handling information.
The linked product warranty excludes installations subject to potential water immersion, including bathrooms and areas with floor drains. A water-resistant core does not remove these room-use restrictions. Check the installation guide, care instructions and warranty under Product Downloads before choosing this floor for a kitchen, laundry or another room.
A clean, dry, flat subfloor. Concrete, timber and most existing tiles all work, but dips or humps need fixing first so the boards lock together properly and don’t move over time. Our subfloor prep guide covers what to check.
In most cases, yes. Hybrid floats over tiles as long as they’re flat, sound and firmly stuck down, which saves the cost and mess of ripping them up. Here’s how to lay hybrid over tiles.
Yes. The boards click to each other rather than to the subfloor, which is what makes it quick to lay and easy to repair. It also means heavy fixed items like kitchen islands need some planning. See cabinets and heavy furniture on a floating floor, how to replace a damaged board, or browse all our floating floors.
Yes. It’s scratch resistant, 100% water resistant and easy to clean, so claws and the odd accident are no drama as long as spills are wiped up reasonably quickly. More in can pets damage hybrid flooring, or see our pet friendly floors.
Sweep or vacuum regularly, then damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner. Skip steam mops, oil-based polishes and harsh chemicals. Our cleaning guide has the full routine.
Yes. The same 6 colours come in 9.5mm hybrid planks, so you can run herringbone through the entry and living areas and planks in the bedrooms, then finish the join with a matching T-moulding.
Yes, and we recommend it. Colours look different in your own light, so order a sample before you buy. You can also call us on 0431 311 633 or get a quote for your whole project.
