What it does

Moisture Barrier Film is a 200 micron (0.2mm) plastic film. It goes over a concrete slab before a floating floor goes down, and helps stop moisture in the concrete from reaching your floor. One roll covers 100 m².

How many rolls do I need?
Measure the floor in square metres. Add a little for the overlaps at the joins and up the walls, then divide by 100 and round up to a whole roll.
How to lay it
- Sweep the slab clean and check it's flat and dry.
- Roll the film out across the slab.
- Overlap the sheets and tape the joins, so moisture can't get through the gaps. Your floor's installation guide says how much to overlap.
- Run it a little way up the walls. Your skirting or scotia hides the edge.
- Lay your underlay and floor on top, as your floor's installation guide says.
Laying a glue-down floor? Glue-down floors need a moisture barrier that suits the glue, so check your floor's installation guide first.
