Terrazzo Tiles

Terrazzo tiles have chips of stone scattered through a smooth base, the look of a classic terrazzo floor. Ours are porcelain, so any tiler lays them like a normal tile, with none of the pouring and grinding of real terrazzo. Choose Brescia Earth, 600 x 600 mm with small chips, a matt finish and a P3 slip rating, or Brescia Iconic, 600 x 1200 mm with large chips and a honed finish. Both come in Ivory, Beige, Grigio and Grafite, from $42.08 per m².

Big tiles mean few joints: about 3 m of grout line in a square metre, against about 25 m for small 52 x 160 mm subway tiles. Both ranges come in the same four colours, so Earth can go on a bathroom floor and Iconic on its walls.

Four colours, cream to charcoal

The same four colours in both sizes. Each has light and dark stone chips through it, so it reads a little warmer or cooler in different light.

Brescia Earth Ivory terrazzo look porcelain tile, a soft cream base with small stone chips

Ivory

A soft cream, the lightest. It keeps a small room bright.

Brescia Earth Beige terrazzo look porcelain tile, a warm sand base with small stone chips

Beige

A warm sand beige, between Ivory and Grigio.

Brescia Earth Grigio terrazzo look porcelain tile, a warm grey base with small stone chips

Grigio

A warm grey with a hint of beige, softer than a cool grey.

Brescia Earth Grafite terrazzo look porcelain tile, a deep charcoal base with light stone chips

Grafite

A deep charcoal grey. Its light chips stand out the most.

Shown: the 600 x 600 mm Earth tiles. Iconic comes in the same colours with larger chips. Screens show colours differently, so check a real tile before you buy.

Terrazzo tiles or real terrazzo?

Real terrazzo is chips of marble, granite, quartz or glass set in cement or epoxy, then ground smooth. It can be poured on site as one seamless floor, or made into tiles. Terrazzo look porcelain puts the same pattern on a porcelain tile.

Before your tiler starts

Six things that make a terrazzo floor look right.

  1. Order every box at once

Tiles are made in batches that can differ slightly in shade. Buy the whole floor, plus a spare box, in one order.

  2. Mix the boxes as you lay

Take tiles from several boxes as you go, so the chips and shade spread evenly across the floor.

  3. Start with a flat floor

Big tiles show every dip. Your tiler checks the floor is flat and may use a levelling system so the edges sit even.

  4. Use a one-third offset on long tiles

Lay 600 x 1200 mm tiles in a straight grid, or move each row along by a third of a tile, about 400 mm. A half offset makes uneven edges more likely on long tiles.

  5. Match the grout to the base

A grout close to the base colour hides the joints and lets the chips lead. Compare options on our grout colours page.

  6. Plan for heavy boxes

Each box weighs about 33 kg. Have two people ready on delivery day, and stack boxes flat.

Common questions

Terrazzo Tiles questions

Still not sure? Send us a message and we will help you pick.

What are terrazzo tiles?

Tiles with chips of stone scattered through a smooth base. Real terrazzo is chips of marble, granite, quartz or glass set in cement or epoxy and ground smooth. Ours are porcelain tiles made with the terrazzo look, so they lay like any other tile.

Are your terrazzo tiles porcelain?

Yes. Porcelain is dense: by definition it absorbs 0.5% of its weight in water or less. It is hard wearing, which suits busy floors.

Can I use terrazzo tiles in a bathroom?

Yes. Brescia Earth has a matt finish with a P3 wet slip rating and suits bathroom floors and walls. Brescia Iconic is honed and has no slip rating stated, so use it on bathroom walls, and ask your tiler before laying it on a wet floor. Shower walls are waterproofed before tiling: at least 1,800 mm above the floor under the building code.

What does a P3 slip rating mean?

It is a result from the wet pendulum test in the Australian standard AS 4586. P3 means a reading of 35 to 44. Higher ratings, P4 and P5, grip more and are the ones to look for outdoors and around pools.

Can I use terrazzo tiles outside?

We sell Brescia for inside the home. Outdoor areas and pool surrounds need a tile made and rated for outdoors, usually P4 or P5.

What sizes are your terrazzo tiles?

Brescia Earth is 600 x 600 mm, 4 tiles to a 1.44 m² box. Brescia Iconic is 600 x 1200 mm, 2 tiles to a 1.44 m² box. Each box weighs about 33 kg.

How many boxes do I need?

Multiply the floor's length by its width in metres and add 10% for cuts. Divide by 1.44 and round up. A 3 m x 2.5 m floor is 7.5 m², or 8.25 m² with cuts: 6 boxes. The calculator on each tile does the sums.

How much do terrazzo tiles cost?

Brescia Earth is $42.08 per m², or $60.60 a box. Brescia Iconic is $53.08 per m², or $76.44 a box. A 4 x 3 m kitchen floor takes 10 boxes: $606.00 of Earth or $764.40 of Iconic, plus delivery, which was $108 to Brisbane on 30 October 2026.

Do terrazzo tiles need sealing?

Real cement terrazzo is porous and is sealed. Porcelain absorbs very little water. Ask your tiler whether to seal the grout, and about the honed Iconic surface.

What grout goes with terrazzo tiles?

A grout close to the base colour, so the chips lead: light for Ivory and Beige, warm grey for Grigio, charcoal for Grafite. Hold a grout sample beside a tile before you choose.

Can I get a sample?

Not by post yet: a single tile weighs 8 to 17 kg. Ask us and we will help you choose a colour.

Why should I order all my tiles at once?

Tiles are made in batches, and two batches can differ slightly in shade. One order for the whole job, plus a spare, keeps the wall even.

How much is delivery?

Enter your postcode on any tile page to get a live delivery price for your order. Tiles go by tracked courier, and the price shows how long delivery takes. You see the same price again at checkout.
