Why choose 9.5mm hybrid flooring

Wide, long planks

At 1820 x 228mm these are the longest, widest boards in our hybrid range. Fewer joins make rooms feel bigger and calmer, and the extra width shows off more of the timber grain. They suit everything from coastal and Hamptons homes to clean, contemporary spaces.

Our quietest hybrid

A 7.5mm SPC core with a 2mm underlay already attached feels solid and sounds quiet underfoot. In independent acoustic testing the 9.5mm range rated AAAC 5 star (L’nT,w 41, FIIC 69), a strong choice for apartments and upstairs rooms.

A premium look you can lay yourself

A high-definition timber print sits under a 0.5mm wear layer, with a four-sided micro bevel so every join reads like a real board. The range comes in 6 colours, from Snow Grey to Pacific Spotted Gum, and the boards click together as a floating floor, so it’s still a realistic DIY job. See the install guide.

“My neighbour is a carpenter and asked me what type of wood my new floors were! I told him it was hybrid and he couldn’t believe it. I’m seriously impressed.” Amber Wislton

Know your product

This hybrid floor combines a timber-look decor layer, rigid SPC core and attached underlay. Read the installation, maintenance and warranty documents to check that it suits your room and floor build-up.

The linked safety data sheet reports zero respirable silica dust content. Refer to the current SDS under Product Downloads for the product’s safety and handling information.

Engineered for Sound: AAAC 5 Star Acoustics

120+ happy customers

The 9.5mm range is our most premium hybrid line, built for serious sound absorption and everyday durability. In independent testing it rated L’nT,w 41, FIIC 69 and AAAC 5 star, helping cut noise between levels. The full report is under Product Downloads above.

It’s also 100% water resistant and highly scratch resistant, so it handles real life: pets, kids and high-traffic areas included. Here’s how acoustic ratings work in apartments.

9.5mm SPC hybrid flooring buying guide

9.5mm hybrid is a 7.5mm stone polymer composite (SPC) core with a 2mm underlay already attached, finished with a timber print and a 0.5mm wear layer. The 1820 x 228mm boards click together as a floating floor, and it’s the most premium plank in our hybrid flooring range.

Where it works best

Select rooms that meet this product’s installation, moisture and warranty conditions. The warranty excludes installations subject to potential water immersion, including bathrooms and areas with floor drains. Its AAAC 5 star (L’nT,w 41, FIIC 69) result describes the tested assembly; apartment and townhouse use still depends on the building’s acoustic requirements and approval. Check these conditions before choosing flooring for a kitchen or laundry.

Laying it

Lay it over concrete, timber or most existing tiles, as long as the subfloor is clean, dry and flat. At 1820mm long the boards are easier with a second pair of hands. Leave an expansion gap at the walls and cover it with matching trims. Start with our subfloor prep guide, then the install guide. Laying over tiles? See hybrid over tiles.

Looking after it

Sweep or vacuum, then damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner. No steam mops. The full routine is in our cleaning guide.

COMMON QUESTIONS  [9.5MM HYBRID]

9.5mm hybrid flooring FAQs

Why are there different thicknesses of hybrid flooring?

Thickness mostly changes three things: how quiet the floor is, how solid it feels and what it costs. Thicker boards usually test quieter, feel firmer underfoot and come in longer, wider planks that read more like real timber. Our 9.5mm range is the thicker, quieter option with our longest boards, while 6.5mm is lighter and more affordable. Compare it with our 6.5mm hybrid or read whether thickness matters.

Is 9.5mm hybrid flooring good for apartments and townhouses?

Yes, it’s our best acoustic performer. In independent testing the 9.5mm range rated AAAC 5 star (L’nT,w 41, FIIC 69), which suits many strata buildings. Every building sets its own rules, so check your by-laws or send us your building’s requirements and we’ll help you check. The full acoustic report is under Product Downloads above, and our apartment acoustics guide explains the ratings.

Can I install this flooring myself?

Yes. The boards click together as a floating floor, so there’s no glue and no separate underlay to lay. The 1820mm boards are easier with two people. If you’re comfortable with basic tools, follow our step-by-step install guide. Not sure it’s a job for you? See which floors suit DIY, or ask about our installation partner.

Do I still need underlay?

These boards already have a 2mm underlay attached. Do not add another underlay unless the product installation guide expressly permits the proposed system. Check any underlay or moisture-control layer against the guide, your subfloor and your building’s requirements before installation. Read our underlay guide for the questions to check.

What does the safety data sheet say about silica?

The linked safety data sheet reports zero respirable silica dust content. Refer to the current SDS under Product Downloads for the product’s safety and handling information.

Can I use hybrid flooring in kitchens, laundries and bathrooms?

The linked product warranty excludes installations subject to potential water immersion, including bathrooms and areas with floor drains. A water-resistant core does not remove these room-use restrictions. Check the installation guide, care instructions and warranty under Product Downloads before choosing this floor for a kitchen, laundry or another room.

What subfloor do I need?

A clean, dry, flat subfloor. Concrete, timber and most existing tiles all work, but dips or humps need fixing first so the boards lock together properly and don’t move over time. Our subfloor prep guide covers what to check.

Can I lay it over existing tiles?

In most cases, yes. Hybrid floats over tiles as long as they’re flat, sound and firmly stuck down, which saves the cost and mess of ripping them up. Here’s how to lay hybrid over tiles.

Is it a floating floor?

Yes. The boards click to each other rather than to the subfloor, which is what makes it quick to lay and easy to repair. It also means heavy fixed items like kitchen islands need some planning. See cabinets and heavy furniture on a floating floor, how to replace a damaged board, or browse all our floating floors.

Is hybrid flooring pet friendly?

Yes. It’s scratch resistant, 100% water resistant and easy to clean, so claws and the odd accident are no drama as long as spills are wiped up reasonably quickly. More in can pets damage hybrid flooring, or see our pet friendly floors.

How do I clean and maintain hybrid flooring?

Sweep or vacuum regularly, then damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner. Skip steam mops, oil-based polishes and harsh chemicals. Our cleaning guide has the full routine.

Can I use this flooring on stairs?

Yes, with matching stair nosings and glue rather than click-lock alone. We recommend a professional installer for stairs. See how stair nosing is installed.

How many boxes do I need?

Each box covers 1.66 m². Measure each room, add 10% for cuts, then divide by 1.66 and round up. Our flooring calculator does the maths, and the measurement guide shows how to measure awkward rooms.

Can I see a sample first?

Yes, and we recommend it. Colours look different in your own light, so order a sample before you buy. You can also call us on 0431 311 633 or get a quote for your whole project.

Can this hybrid floor be used with underfloor heating?

No. The linked hybrid installation guide states that this flooring is not compatible with any floor heating system and that floor heating may void the product warranty. Check the current product documents before ordering for a heated subfloor.
