Riverhill wide plank hybrid flooring in a coastal Australian living room

About Riverhill Floors

Riverhill is an Australian flooring wholesaler that develops its ranges under strict factory quality control and supplies them through flooring retailers around the country. The catalogue runs from water resistant SPC hybrid through laminate to engineered oak and genuine Australian hardwood species.

We stock four Riverhill families in our Brisbane warehouse: Elegant Hybrid, Urban Laminate, iDesign engineered oak and Australian Classic hardwood, sold under our own colour names with matching scotia, stair nosing and trims. Samples go out free, and the hybrid ranges carry independent acoustic test ratings you can check on every product page.

Hybrid flooring, straight from the source

Riverhill's Elegant SPC flooring is built on a rigid stone-composite core: 100% water resistant, stable over most subfloors, and click-lock so confident DIYers can lay it over a weekend. The 6.5mm board with pre-attached underlay is the sharp choice for whole homes, while the 9.5mm steps up in thickness and acoustic performance for apartments and second storeys. It is a big part of why hybrid flooring has become the default for Australian family homes, and why ours ships daily from Brisbane to every state.

Beyond hybrid, the same mill builds our 12mm laminate flooring, our engineered timber flooring in oak and Australian species, and the herringbone and chevron formats designers ask for. If your priority is highly water resistant flooring for kitchens and laundries, start with the hybrid ranges, and if you are comparing against glue-down vinyl, see our Artifloor vinyl flooring page.

One mill behind eight ranges is an unusual setup in Australian flooring retail, and it is exactly why we buy this way. The colour you sample is the colour sitting on our Albion racks rather than a factory order away, batch consistency is managed at the source, and the scotia, stair nosing and trims are colour-matched to the boards they finish instead of approximated from a generic chart. It also means whole-home quantities are a stock check away, not a shipping-container wait.

What makes SPC hybrid flooring different?

SPC hybrid boards are built on a rigid stone-polymer core with the acoustic underlay already attached, so they stay stable where solid timber would move. They click together over most existing subfloors, which means a confident DIYer can floor a room in a weekend, and the 100% water resistant build makes hybrid our first recommendation for kitchens, laundries and open-plan living.

Hybrid flooring Brisbane, delivered Australia-wide

Riverhill hybrid ships daily from our Albion warehouse: click and collect for hybrid flooring in Brisbane, doorstep delivery to every other state. Order free samples first, then boxes, and check the delivery information page for lead times to your suburb.

Laminate, engineered oak and Australian hardwood

The same mill supplies our Urban 12mm laminate, iDesign engineered oak in plank, herringbone and chevron, and Australian Classic engineered hardwood in Spotted Gum, Blackbutt, Grey Ironbark, Blue Gum, Victoria Ash and Tallowood. One supplier, one quality standard, and colour-matched trims across the lot.

Hybrid flooring prices made simple

Every product page shows the box price and the per square metre rate, so you can budget a whole home in minutes with our flooring calculator. Hybrid floors are covered by our lowest-price guarantee, and samples are free before you commit to a single box.

Inside a Riverhill hybrid board

Cut an Elegant Hybrid board in half and you can see why SPC has taken over Australian homes. On top sits a tough transparent wear layer that shrugs off claws, chair legs and grit, protecting a high-definition decor layer that carries the timber grain. Below that is the part that does the heavy lifting: a rigid core of stone powder fused with polymer, which is what makes the board 100% water resistant and keeps it flat and stable where temperature swings would move a timber floor. The acoustic underlay is bonded to the back of every board at the factory, so it cannot be skipped, bunched or laid the wrong way on site.

In a real house, that stack translates simply. Wet mopping and kitchen spills are not a drama, boards near big sliding doors stay flat through Queensland summers, footsteps land quietly instead of echoing, and the click-lock joins pull each row tight so the floor stays seamless for years. It is a construction designed around how families actually treat their floors, which is exactly why the 6.5mm board became our best seller.

Which Riverhill range is right for your home?

If the floor has to survive kitchens, laundries and open-plan living, start with hybrid. The 6.5mm Elegant Hybrid is the value pick that covers whole homes without compromise, the 9.5mm board adds thickness and stronger acoustic ratings for apartments and upper storeys, and the 9.5mm herringbone delivers the designer zigzag in the same 100% water resistant build.

For bedrooms, living rooms and media rooms where budget matters and water is not the enemy, the Urban 12mm laminate gives you a thick, dense board that feels closer to solid timber underfoot than any thin floor can. When only real timber will do, the iDesign engineered oak range carries a genuine oak top layer in wide planks, herringbone and chevron, and the Australian Classic hardwood range puts true Spotted Gum, Blackbutt, Grey Ironbark, Blue Gum, Victoria Ash and Tallowood into an engineered board that stays put in Australian conditions.

Acoustic ratings you can check, not just take on trust

Plenty of flooring brands say quiet. Riverhill's hybrid ranges are independently lab tested for impact sound, and the resulting star ratings are published on every product page so you can read them before you buy. For apartment and townhouse owners that paperwork matters: it is what body corporates ask for when they approve a hard flooring installation over a neighbour's ceiling.

Click-lock installation, made for DIY

Every Riverhill hybrid and laminate board installs as a floating floor: no glue, no nails, just a click-lock join and an expansion gap at the walls that the colour-matched scotia covers. Confident DIYers floor a bedroom in an afternoon and a living area in a weekend over most existing hard, flat surfaces. For stairs, big open-plan runs or tricky layouts, a professional installer is money well spent, and we can help you scope either path.

Caring for hybrid, laminate and timber floors

All three floor types ask for the same basics: regular sweeping or vacuuming to keep grit off the surface, a well-wrung damp mop with a pH neutral cleaner, felt pads under furniture and mats at external doors. Skip steam mops, soaking-wet mopping and abrasive cleaners. Engineered timber appreciates blinds or sheers where harsh afternoon sun hits, the same courtesy you would give any real wood floor.

Trims, scotia and stair nosings to finish the job

A floor only looks finished when the edges do. Every Riverhill range we stock has colour-matched scotia to cover expansion gaps, stair nosings for safe, clean step edges, and transition trims where the new floor meets tiles or carpet. Order them with your boxes so the whole job arrives in one delivery and the colour match comes from the same mill as the boards.

Riverhill FAQs

Who makes Riverhill flooring?

Riverhill Floors is an Australian flooring wholesaler behind the Elegant Hybrid, Urban Laminate, iDesign engineered oak and Australian Classic hardwood ranges. Hybrid Floors Australia stocks these ranges in Brisbane and retails them under our own colour names.

Is Riverhill hybrid flooring water resistant?

Yes. The Elegant Hybrid ranges use a 100% water resistant SPC core, which is why hybrid is our go-to recommendation for kitchens, laundries and open-plan living. Good practice still applies: wipe up standing water and follow the installation guide for wet areas.

Should I choose 6.5mm or 9.5mm hybrid?

The 6.5mm Elegant Hybrid is the value pick for whole homes on flat subfloors. The 9.5mm board is thicker and quieter, with 4 and 5 star acoustic ratings that suit apartments, townhouses and upper floors. Both are 100% water resistant, and both are on our hybrid flooring page.

Which Riverhill ranges does Hybrid Floors Australia stock?

We stock 70 Riverhill floors across eight ranges: Elegant Hybrid in 6.5mm, 9.5mm and 9.5mm herringbone, Urban Laminate 12mm, iDesign engineered oak in plank, herringbone and chevron, and Australian Classic 14.3mm hardwood, plus colour-matched accessories for each. Our glue-down vinyl comes from Artifloor.

Can I see Riverhill floors before I buy?

Yes, that is how we recommend buying. Order free samples and check the colours in your own light, morning and night, before committing to a whole home.

Can hybrid flooring be laid over tiles?

Usually, yes. Because hybrid floats over the existing surface, it can go straight over most hard, flat, sound floors including tiles, timber and concrete, provided the surface is level and any height change at doorways works. No tile removal, no adhesive. If you are unsure about your subfloor, call 0431 311 633 and we will talk it through before you order.

What is the difference between hybrid and laminate flooring?

The core. Hybrid uses a rigid stone-polymer core that is 100% water resistant, which makes it the pick for kitchens, laundries and open-plan areas. Laminate uses a dense timber-fibre core that gives a thicker, warmer, quieter feel underfoot at a sharper price, which makes it a favourite for bedrooms and living rooms. Many customers run hybrid through the wet-adjacent zones and laminate in the sleeping wing.

How much flooring should I order?

Multiply each room's length by width in metres, add the rooms together, then allow about 5 to 10% extra for cutting waste, and a little more for herringbone and chevron patterns. Divide by the square metres per box on the product page and round up. Our flooring calculator does this for you, and a spare box in the garage makes any future repair invisible.

Is engineered timber flooring real wood?

Yes. iDesign and Australian Classic boards carry a genuine timber top layer, real oak or real Australian species, bonded to an engineered base that keeps the board stable through humidity and temperature changes. The grain underfoot is actual wood, with far less of the cupping and gapping risk that comes with solid timber in Australian conditions.
